Marche and the Skimpy Prom Dress

marche skimpy prom dress is that a tattoo?Inappropriate prom dress or hot young thang? You decide. Seriously, what were her parents thinking? The custom made dress looks like a cross between a bathing suit, and a mini skirt and features a "train" or is it a tail flowing off the backside. It ain't a lot of fabric, that's all I'm saying.  Denied entrance by school officials, for violating the dress code, she was escorted off in handcuffs (I guess after arguing with the powers that be)  She's a beautiful girl. Still, I wonder what her tattoo is, on her upper chest? (and why does this highschool student have one?)

Susan Sarandon's Birthday Tattoo

susan sarandon neck back birthday tattoo Wow, she got a tattoo for her 60th birthday! What a cool idea. Sarandon got the tattoo at the top of her back, starting at her neck. She choose to use the initials of her kids: Jack, Eva and Miles. “It hurt so much more than I thought it would.” the Speed Racer star said of getting the tattoo. However, it didn't hurt too much, she's already gone back for another on her wrist. Nice!

Viggo Mortensen's Russian Tattoos in Eastern Promises

Viggo's Tattoos in Eastern PromisesIn the movie, Viggo's character Nikolai has these super old school, really hardcore Russian prison-style tattoos.

These were done with alcohol based ink, so they lasted. The tattoos were so authentic, they scared Russian immigrants who saw them. Talk about being in character. He wore 43 tattoos, that took 4 hours to apply, they were applied using a transfer paper method.

Russian prison tattoos basically tell a man's history, etched into his skin. Viggo's tattoos in the movie include the Virgin Mary, a tiger, a black crow, cathedrals and others. Learn more about  tattoo ideas, tattoo galleries, and making the best choice.

Tattoo Design Advice, Use a Calendar?

Saw this over at Kotaku and thought this was one of the best pieces of advice on how to make sure your tattoo design is one you will love. Kingclip explains that a buddy of his has 10 great tattoos. His trick? When he comes up with a design idea for a tattoo, he marks it down on a calendar to reconsider in one year. That's right - put it on a calendar and if you still love the idea in a year, it's probably a choice that makes sense for you. Seriously, you might outgrow the idea next week and who wants to be stuck staring at a bad choice inked permanently on your body forever?

A Loaded Tattoo, or Why Guns and Tattoos Don't Mix

gun tattoo design pictureWhat a way to ring in the New Year, getting a tattoo to start it off right! Two men in New Mexico were working on a new gun tattoo design, of a .57 Magnum, using a real, loaded gun as a template for the tattoo design. Talk about misguided. The gun went off and they accidentally shot themselves in the process. Oops. The injuries weren't life threatening, hitting one in the hand, the other in the arm.

Pay attention: loaded guns don't make a good template for your tattoo design. Get a picture, will ya?

If you're looking for a gun themed tattoo, there are lots to choose from, dueling pistols, machine guns, uzis, bayonets, rifles, etc. There's also quite a few gun related themes:  gangster, cowboy, urban, justice, to name a few.

Chinese Supermarket or Boyfriend's Name?

Just watched this video about the girl who got the Chinese tattoo that didn't mean what she thought it did. How would you feel if you went to get a tattoo on your tummy and you decided on getting your boyfriend's name in Chinese? You'd feel pretty good, right? Wrong, because you just found out that the Chinese characters indelibly inked on your belly say something more along the lines of "Supermarket". Bummer.

Research Foreign Language Tattoos

Learn a lesson from Joanna's mistake. You should research any tattoo that includes wording or lettering in a language other than those you read. Note I said read, not speak. If you can't be sure of the translation then don't do it. Do your research and check it out first. Go to the library, look around online, but don't just take their word for it - make sure you know. This is a permanent piece of body art we're talking about - not a sticker you can take off, if it turns out to be embarrassing.

Do you know of anyone who got a tattoo like this? What was is supposed to say and what did it really say?
